I just noticed something that’s been on our refrigerator for a few months, but had gotten lost amidst all the other papers stuck up there. It gave my day a boost when I stopped to read it again. Here’s what it says:
Why my mom is a superhero.
Jonah 2nd grade
She is a super hero because she makes all my meals. She takes care of me when I am sick. She helps my school. She pays for all the stuff I need. I love my mom!
There’s a little picture of super me at the bottom of the page leaping off the ground into the blue sky with a red cape on.
I love this because much of the time, I don’t feel like I’m doing a super job at being a mom. Lately, I’ve been busy and distracted and more than a little irritable. Being a mom takes super human strength and most of the time, my reserves are low.
But all it takes is reading a little message like this one to give you that little extra boost of power that you need. And it’s good to know that no matter how much you think you lack in the parent department, your kids still think you are a superhero.
