Americans lack a basic understanding of learning disabilities according to a survey of nearly 2,000 adults released by the National Center of Learning Disabilities in 2012.
The survey found Americans are confused about the causes, treatments and rights of those with learning disabilities. Correlation to IQ, poor vision and childhood vaccines were among some of the persistent myths related to learning disabilities, the survey showed.
Parents also expressed a desire for additional information than their school could provide about learning disabilities, as well as additional concerns for their children.
