Take the family for artsy fun at Annmarie’s Artsfest

Visit the 23rd Artsfest in Solomons Sept. 17 and 18 for lots of inspiration and fun for the family.

artsfest WThe festival at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center will have more than 165 artist booths, 30 performers on two stages, activities for kids, food and more. Street performers such as stilt walkers, mimes, living statues, balloon artists, bubble artists and more will be strolling throughout the festival.

Kids will love the Discovery Tent near the Main Stage in the grassy meadow. Artsy activities will be available for all ages. This year kids can take an Art History Challenge, recreate Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry, Starry Night using old shopping bags and bottle caps, or create Georgia O’keeffe’s Red Poppy using only kitchen supplies.

A Zany Zone provides a place to run around and have fun while parents enjoy the music. Giant beach balls, hula hoops and other fun toys will be on hand. The Patio Play Area on the Hungerford Patio will offer blow-up bowling, sidewalk chalk time and more.

Kids can also visit the Fairy Lolly playground, near the start of the Wooden Path, to play in a giant teepee, a mini castle, log cabin or create on an acting stage.

Food as well as beer and wine will be available for purchase.

The festival takes place from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Cost is $6 for nonmembers, free for members and ages 11 and younger. Visit Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center website for more information.
