You can now check out healthy recipes and ways to stay fit on the Anne Arundel County Department of Health’s new Pinterest page.
The Anne Arundel County Department of Health is one of the first health departments and local government agencies in Maryland to add Pinterest to its social media resources. Titled Anne Arundel Health, the page will have local and national sources highlighting healthy recipes, get-moving activities and obesity prevention tips through a collection of Pinterest boards.
“As a tool to collect and organize pictures, express thoughts and share healthy tips, Pinterest creates a strong visual appeal for appetizing foods, fun activities, memorable events and do-it-yourself projects,” says Jackie Young, University of Maryland senior and Department of Health intern. Young’s Public Information Office internship projects have included research, writing and marketing for the Pinterest account.

In addition to Pinterest, the Department of Health has other social media sites, including Twiter, Facebook and Youtube. They also have an anti-smoking page and a sun safety page for children on Fabebook and an HIV/AIDS information resource page and mental health recovery support page on Twitter.
