The Polar Express coming to the B&O Railroad

Want to take your kids to the North Pole, but can’t afford a plane ticket? Don’t despair — the B&O Railroad Museum is offering service to the North Pole via The Polar Express Train Ride. But tickets are going fast so you might want to book now!

polarexpressBetween Nov. 27 and 29, families can hop on The Polar Express for a one-hour experience where kids can relive the magic of the classic children’s book “The Polar Express” by Chris Van Allsburg. Characters from the book will come to life on the 25-minute train ride where the conductor punches golden tickets as each passenger boards the train. Once all the passengers are onboard, hot chocolate and treats are served while kids and families read along with the story.

After the train ride, Santa and his helpers will personally meet the passengers at the B&O’s historic roadhouse, where each child will receive a silver sleigh bell as a reminder to believe.

“It brings us great joy to bring a beloved Christmas story to life this holiday season,” says Courtney Wilson, the executive director of the B&O Railroad Museum.

Train rides depart at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. all three days. A dress rehearsal ride will be offered Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. Ticket prices range from $28-$48 for ages 2-12 and $38-$58 for adults. First class tickets are already sold out. Families are encouraged to wear pajamas. For details, call 410-752-2490 or visit borail.org.

The B&O Railroad Museum will be closed to the public Nov. 23-29 for setup and during the special event.
