Head to Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis Sept. 12-13 for a crab-cracking, Old Bay-shaking good time at the Maryland Seafood Festival.
Check out kids activities, attend a cooking class or sample some delicious crab soup from the annual Capital Crab Soup Cook-off. Xpogo will give professional pogo stick demonstrations of high-energy bouncing and tricks. Free standup paddle boarding and SUP yoga demos run all weekend long.
Fun for kids and others includes:
- Snakeheads and More Aquarium Exhibit
- Horseshoe Crab Exhibit
- Annapolis Crab Derby with live crab races, crab picking contests, crab shell painting and more
- Moon bounce house, obstacle course, slide and more
- Fishmobile with live exhibits and touch tanks
- Birds of prey exhibit
Families can also take part in the inaugural Paddle for Betterment competition, which is in the format of a poker run. Competitors paddle to checkpoints to collect playing cards, and the best hands of poker will win prizes. Those who enter receive admission to the festival, an event T-shirt and lunch. Bring your own board or rent one in advance.
Fees for the event range from $10-120. Parking is available at Anne Arundel Community College Lots A & B for $5 per car (payable at AACC). Limited parking is also available at Sandy Point State Park with a pre-purchased parking permit.
