Check out a haunted ship and enjoy some ghostly fun and treats at St. Mary’s City
The Lost City
Legend has it, long ago on one dark and stormy evening in October, as sailors were readying their berths for the night, the Haunted Ship was severed from its mooring and set adrift. Lurching out into the rain-soaked darkness, the massive merchant ship was quickly lost to view, never to be seen or heard from again, until now. One night every October, these lost souls return, sailing through the wisps of mist, trying to finally make their way back home — cursed to wander, never to find what has now become the Lost City.
Families with children of all ages are invited to dress in their Halloween costumes and journey forth to meet these lost sailors, enjoy some trick-or-treating through both the town and the ship. There will also be games, and enjoy stories. The event takes place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 19 at historic St. Mary’s City. The event is free though donations are welcome. Parking is available at the State House parking lot.
