Maryland Therapeutic Riding

If your child is a horse enthusiast, explore volunteer opportunities at Maryland Therapeutic Riding (MTR). Located in Crownsville, MTR is an accredited therapeutic riding center that offers therapeutic horseback riding lessons for children and adults with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. Volunteers assist with riding lessons, care for the horses, provide barn and facility maintenance, and perform additional supportive tasks.

During the holiday season, MTR seeks volunteers to complete projects on the farm, such as working on the sensory trail and painting. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Groups and families are welcome.

Volunteers who would like to help with the horses and riders must complete a volunteer orientation and commit to a four-week session over the holidays or an eight-week winter session.
