Members of the military and their families have faced enormous challenges on behalf of the citizens of the United States. On Veteran’s Day and throughout the month of November, some special events and organizations honor military service.

Operation Green Light

Operation Green Light provides citizens with the opportunity and information to learn about military culture, suicide prevention, and things veterans want us to know about their service and transition from military to civilian culture.

How can individuals participate in Operation Green Light?

  • Illuminate your porch in green the week of November 6 to 13.
  • Learn about and share federal, state, and local resources for service members, veterans, and families with friends and family.
  • Visit the Governor’s Challenge Psych Armor Training Portal to complete free training on various subjects related to the military and veteran culture, women veterans, and suicide prevention.

Wreaths Across America

National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023. More than two million volunteers will donate, lay wreaths, or educate the community at over 4,000 locations across the United States. Go to the website and search for opportunities and locations near you.

Bob Woodruff Foundation

The Bob Woodruff Foundation resolves to raise awareness about the tough challenges veterans and military families face, and invest in solutions to help support them in the next chapter of their lives. The Foundation complements the government’s work, ensuring that our veterans thrive long after returning home. Their mission is to ensure that our nation’s veterans, service members, and their families — those who stood for us — have stable and successful futures.

In its 17th year, Stand Up for Heroes is the Foundation’s annual celebration where they honor the nation’s impacted veterans and their families. Tickets are on sale for the event on November 6 at 8pm, Lincoln Center, NYC.
