Wednesday Recipe: Sweet Tea

We usually put in something a little gourmet-y here. But then we got a postcard from the Columbus, Ga. tourism board, and had to share. Because sweet tea is the true meaning of summer.

You need: 6 regular tea bags
1/8 tsp. baking soda (it takes away bitterness)
2 cups boiling water
1-2 cups sugar (or Splenda)
6 cups cold water

In a large glass measuring cup, place the tea bags and add the baking soda. Pour the boiling water over the tea bags, cover and steep for 15 minutes. Then remove the tea bags, but don't squeeze them. Pour the tea mixture into a 2-quart pitcher and add the sugar, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Add the cold water. Chill in the refrigerator and serve over ice. Try it with a slice of orange and a sprig of mint!
