The Harry Potter Festival in Chestertown celebrates all things wizard for the fifth straight year.
Chestertown is a charming small town on Maryland’s upper Eastern Shore that is always a treat to visit. But come the first weekend of October, it transforms into an even more magical place during its annual Harry Potter Festival. So, grab your broomsticks (really—there’s a Quidditch tournament!), polish your wands and apparate over to the shore to celebrate your favorite wizarding world.
Events are geared toward the whole family and include Potter Paint Parties, Magical Creature Habitat workshops, an enchanted high tea, and a trivia party.
Outside you’ll find both a Quidditch pitch and a Kidditch pitch for the little ones. Cosplay is encouraged and will help you and your family get in the mood as you complete a townwide scavenger hunt, stop at the Goblins and Galleons interactive wizard bank, take in a Harry Potter movie screening, and head to the pub for a round of Butterbeer.
There is no festival admission fee, though some special events require paid tickets, including the kick-off party on Friday night at the Prince Theatre (6–9 p.m.). Find the complete schedule of events and details at
