Woofie’s of Annapolis—a pet care service provider that serves the Chesapeake Bay communities of Annapolis, Edgewater, Haywood and Mayo, among others—recently expanded its services for family pets, now including a mobile pet spa, daytime and overnight pet sitting, dog walking and 24/7 vet telehealth support.

Led by Amy Manlapaz, a health care advisor and former nurse, and Conrad Manlapaz, a retired federal police officer, the business also offers expertise from Danielle Hernandez, a general manager with more than 15 years in sales and operations in the pet industry. Woofie’s serves all types of family pets, including dogs, cats, parrots and turtles.

“After many years in healthcare and service to the community, we’ve witnessed the profound joy that pets bring into people’s lives. This inspired us to launch a business dedicated to providing high-quality pet services so others can experience the same positive impact that pets have on well-being,” says Amy Manlapaz, quoted in an event listing leading up to the Woofie’s of Annapolis grand opening last month.

Another community service now open in Annapolis is a fixed-site blood donation center from the American Red Cross. One of more than 200 American Red Cross fixed-site blood donor sites across the United States, the center anticipates collecting 3,000 units of blood and more than 2,000 units of platelets over the course of its first year.

The American Red Cross encourages visitors to roll up their sleeves to save a life. The organization is known for sheltering, feeding and supporting victims of natural disasters, providing post-catastrophe support and supplying more than 40% of the nation’s blood.
