Appropriate for ages 13 and up, frankly. Swearing and drug use are definitely present, but at what I’d call PG-13 levels. One character gets a good belt to the nose. It’s probably not your teens’ cup of tea, but if you’re keen to take them along, they may gain a little insight into how tiring, frustrating and worrisome it is for parents try to manage their own lives and the lives of others at the same time.
The Descendants has a somewhat slow start and a loping pace, but it mostly earns its Oscar buzz with well handled characters and a light, touching performance by George Clooney
