Students at Eagle Cove School in Pasadena got a lesson in solar energy last week in celebration of Earth Day.
Solar Energy World, a local solar panel installer, visited the school to host interactive and educational demonstrations on solar energy and how students can incorporate this “green energy” into their everyday lives.
After the educational sessions, students engaged in a hands-on experience with solar energy by building and customizing solar-powered race cars. Each class was represented by its own solar car in a school-wide solar-powered car race held on a black top behind the school.
Prizes were awarded to the classes with the fastest cars. The PreK/Kindergarten car beat out grades 1 – 5 for the grand prize—a class pizza party! All participants were given sunglasses (as you can see in the photos).
